WhatsApp Wants To Stop people (Friends or Strangers) From Stealing Your Profile Picture

WhatsApp has released an update which will stop snitchers, strangers or even your friends from saving (stealing) your profile pictures.

Before the release of this update, if you want to steal (download) someone’s profile picture, all you need to do is to click on it, and chose the option to save it into your phone, without the knowledge of the owner of the picture.
But now, things have changed, an update that show WhatsApp concern for users’ privacy has been released and has removed the ability to save a person’s profile picture.
Aside from making screenshot and cropping the picture, you will no longer be able to download the image.
Though this update is not stopping you from downloading icons used for group chats.
WhatsApp has not publicly explained why they have decided to remove the feature and we don’t know the reasons
for this choice.

Once you update your WhatsApp to the latest version on beta, you’ll notice that the ability to quickly save profile pictures has been removed. It is unclear when it will roll out to iOS users.
